Hello my name is Laurie. I sustained a TBI in April 1991. I was involved in a motor vehicle accident. I had numerous breaks and am in a wheelchair, but am able to ambulate with help of a cane and a individual. I have been a resident of Progressive Health since 2004. It is a head injury community based program. I wanted to intreoduce myself and am looking forward to getting to know people who belong to this group.
Nice to meet you! Welcome to the (small but friendly) board. I am Brian. I am a person with a Brain Injury since 1996. I fell off of a back of a pickup...hooked to a trailer... Got that head of mine crushed and had to start-over... Is been 13 years... and I continue to learn something new each day (well...most of time.. ...) Glad to have you on the board! Cheers Brian!

Welcome aboard Laurie! I have three TBIs. First one I was 15, and I spent 9-1/2 months in the hospital. That was in 1985. Next one wasn't as bad physically, but it did just as much damage.
It was in 2000, and I went from a man with a nice full-time well paying job (owned my own business) going to college part time with a wife to living in a travel trailer, unemployed, dealing with TBI#2 alone because my wife split on me (kinda). Lost out on college and I lost my business.
#3 was recent, back in 12/06. Now I'm permanantly 100% disabled, constant pain, constant nightmares, and I am repeatedly harassed by the cops. Been arrested twice since July. Since 12/06 I have been arrested 5 times.
Hi Laurie! Great to meet you, thanks for sharing your story! Keep up the fight...I look forward to getting to know you better.
Take care,
Craig

Right now I am looking into a newer type of physical therapy for TBI recipients that, if successful, could make a HUGE beneficial impact on the recovery and rehabilitation from TBIs.
